How long have you been with American?

Lisa: 19 years!

Lori: 24 years!

What is the birth order?

Lisa: I am the oldest in the family.

Lori: And four years later I came along.

What’s your favorite memory from your childhood?

Lisa: We really didn’t get to do much together and that had to do with me being the oldest. Having 5 kids we didn’t get to do much. Mom stayed home and the only thing we really got to do was to go into Morris. We got to do Crazy Days in town and we had fun with that.

Lori: I really loved visiting our relatives and cousins that were around our ages. I distinctly remember, we had a turkey, that wasn’t the NICEST turkey, and it got out of the pen and it came running after Lisa one day, clinging onto her back! We all laughed, but she didn’t think it was very funny when it happened.

Lisa: Well I remember being around 9 or 10, and Lori bent down to check the temp of our pool, and a goose came up and bit her right in the butt, tipped her into the pool and had the side of the pool tip over, spilling water everywhere!

What was your first job and how old were you?

Lisa: I was 16 and I worked at Hardee’s.

Lori: I was 13 and I was basically a nanny for our neighbors. I never had a “real job” until I got out of high school. I had one day off a week, otherwise I was with the little girl all week. They let me have Friday off and then called back Saturday.

Where did you go to school?

Lori: Willmar Technical College, now Ridgewater College.

Lisa: I went to Willmar as well.

What is your favorite project you’ve worked on together?

Lori: Probably mom and dad’s 50th wedding anniversary that we planned everything together. We weren’t as close then as we are now. I even lived with them for a while and nannied for their son when they first got married.

What’s a fun fact about the two of you?

Lori: Well, our dad wanted boys and we disappointed him two times. He finally got his boy but a girl came along with him (twins)!

Why do you recommend working with family?

Lisa: American puts on a lot of activities for family and the spouses can come and chat with each other while we talk to the other American employees.

Lori: Working at American together we get that flexibility of being able to balance work and family and have the opportunity to be off at the same time to plan things with together.
