Despite a volatile year, 2020 brought a significant uptick in the real estate market, continuing to be seen and enjoyed both by realtors and funders at financial institutions. According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), it was the highest increase since before the Great Recession of 2007-2009.

With the increase in home prices, nearly half of all offers resulting in contracts, and record-low mortgage rates, the market attracted first-time home buyers as well as those ready to buy again and take advantage of the opportunities.

Like every industry, the pandemic forced a new mindset and mode of operation. For realtors, that meant a new way of showing and selling homes that is sure to be the “new norm.” That also upped the use of promotional products to improve branding and referral rates as well as deepen relationships with existing and new customers.

NAR also recently reported what buyers most want or need from their real estate agent:

  • 11% – Help with price negotiations
  • 8% – Help with paperwork
  • 6% – Help determining how comparable homes are priced
  • 4% – Help determining budget
  • 3% – Help finding and arranging financing
  • 1% – Help learning more about the local area
