ASB Family Raises $5,200 for Glenwood Teen Battling Cancer

During the American Solutions for Business Super Bowl Party hosted at their national sales conference, team members and vendor partners raised money to benefit a Glenwood, Minnesota teen battling cancer.

Nineteen-year-old Colin Richards was diagnosed with Stage 4 Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma, a form of Non-Hodgkins on February 8th and since then, the community has rallied around him and his family to help raise money for treatment.

During the ASB event in February, team members had a spur-of-the-moment idea to help raise money for Colin’s cause. They decided to collect money from event attendees (ASB sales associates, home office team, vendor partners and guests) to shave ASB IT Manager, Nate Disrud’s beard. Nate had been growing his beard for nearly four years and ASB president, Justin Zavadil, would joke with him about shaving it off for charity sometime.

Having just learned about Colin while at the conference, the two decided that this was the perfect opportunity and a very worthy cause. Team members helped raise awareness throughout and collected $5,200 for the Richards Family.

Close friend of the family and ASB vendor relations coordinator, Jodi McGinty, had the honor of shaving Nate’s beard on stage in front of all attendees.

Fundraising efforts within the community have certainly not stopped; with branded t-shirts and accessories on sale at local businesses all over town, the hope is to bring in even more support.

The community has also organized an upcoming benefit and silent auction open to the public in Glenwood:
