American Solutions for Business is proud to announce that one of our sales associates, Lynda Starr-Zimmerman, has recently earner her MASI and FAM certifications. These programs provide invaluable insight to present customers with knowledge and strategy to help them succeed. Lynda recently joined American in January of 2019 and has been in our industry for three years.
MASI stands for Master of Advertising Specialty Information (ASI). According to ASI, “MASI certification recognizes you as a true industry expert, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, knowledge and experience.”
Lynda opened up to share her experience:
How long have you been working toward your MASI?
Since the day I started in the promotional products industry 3 years ago. I have numerous years of client service and problem-solving experience, but that did not prepare me for the “foreign language” of the promo world. I knew I would need to learn all I could about the industry to enhance my skills and attain the knowledge required to best serve my clients in their marketing efforts to increase brand visibility.
What does it mean that you’ve achieved your MASI?
I have worked diligently to expand my knowledge in the promo industry and increase my level of expertise. Having earned my MASI gives me a great sense of accomplishment and provides my clients with confidence in choosing myself and American Solutions for Business as their industry experts.
What advice would you give to ASB sales associates considering the certification?
Go for it! Take the opportunity that is readily available to enrich your knowledge in the industry.
FAM is the Fashion Apparel Masterclass, a program launched by Bella+Canvas. It’s defined as, “a first-of-its-kind education and community hub that addresses the challenges we are facing, changes to the status quo, and solutions on a whole new level.”
How did you learn about the FAM program?
What made you decide to get this certification?
The ad for the FAM certification said, “Find out how the Fashion Apparel Masterclass will help you sell more apparel!” I liked that idea and wanted to do just that!
What did you learn from this certification?
This was an extremely informative course, consisting of an extensive amount of beneficial material. One of the most significant lessons was the importance of being distinguishable and differentiated in an industry where commoditization exists.
Do you have your sights set on any other certifications?
Absolutely! There is always something new to learn in this constantly-evolving industry. If the opportunity is presented, I will gladly take it.

Learning is a continuous process. It’s essential to professional and personal success, so never stop learning new things!
