What does industry education mean to you?
For me, industry education represents an opportunity to further my knowledge in an ever-changing industry. The online classes review tried and true methods and industry standards, while introducing new and innovative ideas. For someone like myself that is fairly new to the industry, these classes are incredible tools for reference.
How long have you been working toward your BASI?
I attended the Orlando ASI Show in January 2023 and I was inspired by all of the educational opportunities. I started taking the online courses after that and took the exam in July.
What advice would you give to ASB sales associates considering the certification?
Go for it! There are hundreds of courses to take, but starting immediately and chipping away at each day will pay off. You will gain an incredible amount of knowledge and perspective along the way, too.
How did you balance your time with your business and earning an extensive certification?
I started each day by taking an hour of educational courses. If I had any down time in my work day, I would watch a video and use that time for education. As I became familiar with the courses offered, I found myself referencing them when I needed to educate myself on something.
What made the BASI stand out more than other industry certifications?
I appreciate that this course of study is self-paced and easily accessible. I did not have to arrange my schedule to attend the classes and complete the course work. I have had a lot of support along the way from ASI, and I have been impressed by them and what they represents to the industry.
What is your biggest take away from this course study?
There are resources for every question that I have during any given day. It’s very reassuring to me that I can continue to learn and grow on a regular basis since this course of study is self-paced and easily accessible.
What’s next for you in terms of industry education?
I hope to achieve my MASI before the end of 2023!
