What was your inspiration to write this memoir?

I was adopted at birth and have had a rather interesting life with many jobs and experiences across the U.S. that I felt would provide entertaining reading material.

How long did it take you to complete?

I actually started writing my book many years ago before finding my birth family—but since finding my mother and six siblings in 2021 at age 67, I intensified my efforts. All in all, I’d say it took me three years.

How is your current relationship with your birth family?

My relationship with everyone has been excellent and rewarding. We have traveled to Wilmington, NC twice to visit my mother and three siblings; to Weatherford, TX to visit my brother; several visits with my sister in St. Louis and attended two family weddings in CO and MO last year. This past Christmas, my brother traveled to my home to spend the holidays with us and to meet two of our children and our grandchildren.

How have your two families integrated since the meeting?

We text regularly, talk on the phone and zoom occasionally. We are spread across the country. Several have indicated that they would travel to CA to visit us.
